Still no idea where bleed is...

Family and Friends,

They did the angiography today but they couldn't find any active bleeding in Bob's small intestine. This sucks because the GI doc is absolutely convinced it's the small intestine and he only idea is to keep giving Bob blood in the hopes that it will stop. I tried to ask lots of questions to see if there is a possibility of an obstruction somewhere or that he may be bleeding in other places but the doc was pretty adamant that he wasn't. Bob was bleeding all day, his red counts went down from 8.4 to 7.9 so I can't understand why that angiography wouldn't pick up a bleed. I'm at the point now that Bob's gotten 50 pints of blood that maybe I should ask for a 2nd opinion and possibly find someone who would be willing to look other places via a CT scan or sonogram or something. I spoke with Bob's sister Cindi and she agreed, since neither one of us have a MD in gastroenterology.

Now for the super good news. Bob's white blood count is up to 4.9 which is in normal limits!! In addition his platlets jumped up to 157,000 which are within normal limits as well!! This is a big step for him. He will not be needing platlets or plasma anymore. Just packed red blood. We can theoretically go into his room without wearing gloves now, but we're not going to chance it for a few more days.... Aunt April, Uncle Tom and I will be going back to see Bob tonight and get an update. We can't go now because they are doing 4 hours of dialysis.

That's about it. Bob's bleeding is still a mystery and hopefully we'll find an answer soon!
Love and thanks,
Michele
