More fevers, more blood, and pretty good news

Family and Friends,

I'm going to start with the pretty good news first. FINALLY the thorough lab analysis came back for Bob's bone marrow. Here's the scoop: Bob has Acute Myeloid Leukemia in subgroup M4 with an inversion of the M16 chromosome. Per the lab results, it says "this is associated with a better prognosis than most other AML subtypes". So that's my good news.

The bad news is that Bob still isn't eating. I guilted him into drinking an Ensure, but that's about it. The only good thing is that he's drinking a ton of water. He has a fever again, which he's had on and off for the majority of the day, and they are doing the ice thing again. In addition, they've given him more blood, more platlets, and now more blood again. They're also adding in potassium, dilaudid, ms contin, zofran, tylenol, and protonics for good measure.

I'm spending another night sleeping in Bob's room with him. They have a pull out bed and I'm sleeping with a surgical mask on. It's definately something you have to get used to.

It's a blessing that I've got tomorrow off so that I can spend time with Bob.

Thanks again to everyone for the prayers and kind thoughts,
Michele
