Bob to require bronchoscopy

Family and Friends,

The doctors have decided NOT to give Bob dialysis today to see what happens. They are hoping that his kidneys are strong enough to start processing fluids. In addition, the sonogram that was performed showed thickening of the gall bladder. The gastroenterologist was not too concerned as he believed this may be caused from the food that he is receiving in his IV (TPN). The GI doc also seems to be convinced of the fact that Bob has stopped bleeding. I am a bit leery of his assessment since his last 3 blood draws have been 9.5,8.2,and 8.1 if they start increasing, then I'll be a believer.

Finally, I spoke with the pulmonologist. She said that she is concerned about the yeast in Bob's sputum. She said that his lung secretions are thick and discolored and he is not able to pass them when he coughs into the breathing tube. Tomorrow she will be performing a bronchoscopy where they fish a line through his breathing tube and into his trachea and bronchial tubes to clean him out. He has been fighting a fever all day and sweating profusely, he just finally broke the fever and is at 99.8

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers
Love and thanks,
Michele

PS. People have been asking about blood donations. Here is some info:
To learn more about blood donation opportunities, visit www.givelife.org orcall 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543). Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation. When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.
