Possible surgery tomorrow... source of bleed confirmed

Family and Friends,

Today was a busy day for Bob. We started off with a angiography and they did find that he was actively bleeding, however they were not sure if it was in the colon or small intestine. The GI doc then performed a colonoscopy and finally determined it was not coming from the colon but he could see blood pooling from the small intestine. After this, they completed the bronchoscopy where they removed a large amount of mucus from Bob's lungs. Then Aunt April and I met with the surgeon and he said that if Bob can get his red count up today that they would consider surgery in the morning. They will make a small incision above his belly button, pull out 30 feet of intestine, try to find the bleed with a scope, and either cut or try to cauterize the affected part. We talked his Oncologist into getting a 2nd GI opinion and the new doc will be performing the surgery over the weekend if Bob is well enough. Bob is currently receiving dialysis and since it is so late we are not able to see him again tonight.
