Endoscopy results - Bleed in small bowel or colon

Family and Friends,

The good news is that the endoscopy went without a hitch. The bad news is they didn't find anything. The bleeding from any stomach ulcers are not enough to cause the massive amounts of blood in his stool, so they have determined that the bleeding is either coming from the small bowel or colon. Neither one is very good. The next step is that they are in the process of completing a 3 hour bleed test where they inject his blood and wait to see where it bleeds out (he had one of these last week) it's not a very specific test. Basically they'll say "yes he's bleeding and it's in the upper left quadrant (or something like that)". The next step it looks like according to the GI doc is that they will most likely have to do a angiography to determine exactly where the bleed is coming from and they may be able to cauterize at that point. Everything is up in the air right now and none of it looks super fantasic. Best case is they are able to cauterize with angiography, worst case is they have to do full on surgery and remove bowel - and they don't know if he's strong enough for that. But I'm jumping the gun. Bob is 75% of a regular person's white blood, 60% of a person's red blood, and at 50% normal on platlets.

I'm trying to be positive. But it's scary. I'd like to thank Bob's sister Cindi who is the most positive person in this whole thing. I don't know where it comes from, but man does she have strength. She's leaving to go back to Boston today and I'm going to miss her. I told her I hope I don't see her again until Bob get's out the hospital and we have a big party.

Please pray for Bob today, it's going to be a long day....
Love and Thanks,
Michele
